Improve Your Employee Retention Rate

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics more than 2 million American workers voluntarily quit their jobs every month. A Harris Interactive study found that 74 percent of people consider searching for a new job on a daily basis. Employee retention has always been a challenge but in our ever-changing, ever-moving culture, it’s more difficult than ever. This is true for both large and small companies. Keeping employees is more cost-effective than hiring and training news ones, even if you pay them less.

So how do you keep workers focused and happy? An innovative alternative that’s gaining momentum and acceptance is offering workers flexible hours and telecommuting via virtual officing.

According to a recent PGi survey, employees who telecommute enjoy may benefits, of which the following are just a small sampling:

· 82 percent experienced lower stress levels.

· 80 percent had higher morale.

· 69 percent missed fewer days of work.

· 70 percent increased their productivity.

· 59 percent of employees believe the freedom to telecommute at least part-time is ideal.

· 72 percent of employers say teleworking has a high impact on retention rates.

· 80 percent of employees consider telework as a job perk.

But the benefits aren’t only on the employee side. Employers find that remote employees are more productive:

· 20-40 percent of employers reported that employees are more productive and able to complete tasks in less time.

· On average, a teleworker produces 43 percent more business volume than his or her colleagues who work in the office.
