Few people know what palladium is and what it is being used for. Palladium is a metal from the platinum group with high qualities and with refined looks. Its silvery-white color is appreciated by many and used for jewelry and adornments. However, these are not the two most important uses of this metal as it is preponderantly used in catalytic converters. These converters manage to transform basically 90 percent of the harmful auto gases into other gases that are less polluting and consequently less harmful for people and the environment.
Because of its qualities that recommend it in many industries and because of its look, palladium could be a great investment nowadays. But the fact that few people know about its existence makes it a metal very difficult to purchase and especially very difficult to sell. Unless you want to invest in it because your business might need, unless you produce electronics like televisions of any kind, computers, electrical contacts, mobile phones and so on, you should think it through if it is worth it.
Because the auto industry is in constant development and since palladium is essential for catalytic converters, its price is quite high. Since it is rarer than gold, it was not until recently that it begun being traded in its own palladium ETF. Gold has a real tradition in what concerns the trade market and people trust it more as an investment because of that.
If you are considering buying physical palladium you should know that you can find it as bars or bullion coins. The Canadian Maple Leaf and the Chinese Panda are among the most famous coins made out of this precious metal. For the same reason, that this metal is not as well known and trusted like gold is, its liquidity is not very good. Most coins are not very circulated, meaning that you could have trouble in purchasing them and especially in selling them.
Most traditional and most successful precious metal buyers stick to buying gold bullion. Its value is incontestable and it stands as one of the wisest investments of all times, especially when there is a situation of recession at a global level. Gold’s price has proved to be ever rising bringing to its investors large profits or at least the stability they were looking for. In what concerns coins or jewelry they are highly appreciated by collectors too. Some gold sovereigns are worth a fortune and their price is constantly growing as time goes by.
